“His Majesty has ordered us to escort Your Highness the Prince upon your return.”

Launelian’s eyes swept over the armed knights.

Bright light sprung from the portal and a figure appeared.
“Your Highness Tarkan.”
The portal guardian bowed his head.
Tarkan nodded in return and took brisk strides to leave.
No one was following behind him.
He left all the other warriors at the border and went back alone.

The court ladies were startled by the sudden appearance of their lord and bowed deeply.
They heard that the expedition had returned to the border today. However, they never thought that Tarkan would come to the capital right away.
It was normal to spend a week or so to recover from the battle before returning to the capital.
‘I did think he might come back tomorrow but…’
They thought he would at least send word in advance.
“I’m sorry, Your Highness. We were not expecting your return so our preparations are insufficient.”
“No need. I came without sending word because I wanted it to be a surprise.”
He wasn’t interested in a fancy reception. There was only one thing he was interested in.
“Where is Rineh?”
His wife.
However, the reaction of the court ladies was a little strange.

Tarkan’s eyes narrowed.

“Where is my wife?”

Eventually, a court lady opened her mouth, feeling like there were knives on her tongue.
“…The Princess Consort is in Silvanus.”

As many of the readers of this novel points, she gets pregnant in 3 day when it’s supposed to show the first signs after month and a half the sooner.
Then suddenly a brother she (and we) didn’t know pops up from nowhere and Rineh, who became as stupid as her father and sister all of a sudden, decided that the best idea to cope with her pregnancy is to return to the worst place in Earth for her, instead of staying in a place with all her people and allies.
That’s a move called “making drama for drama’s sake”. I don’t know why the author had the compulsion of destroying her/his work by adding some very bad thought tropes and cliches.

I don’t know if you guys read the previous chapter correctly or something… But base on my own understanding the FL clearly needed something and to go back to her kingdom because the baby she carries will be born with “authorities” and she needed to go back to Silvanus to safely delivers the baby. Maybe it’s in their tradition that all babies who has “authorities” can only be born in Silvanus or something? Plus isn’t her brother the most concerned of her wellbeing just by looking from the previous chapters. And the issue that they suddenly went to Silvanus without informing Tarkan.. will the preggy FL suddenly collapsed because she felt weird in her stomach which I suspect that she needed to go back to Silvanus quickly. I might be wrong, but that is what I understood in this scenario.

Terrible cliffhanger!! While it’s certain that her return was necessary to deal with the ordeals of a pregnancy of a baby with special powers that only Silvanus knows the secrets of, it suuuuuuucks for Tarkan. The timing of it all made it impossible to explain things to him. No, just the fact that the powers exist in itself is already impossible to talk about. It’s pretty much an ultimate state secret and Rineh had already seen too many bad endings whenever she disclosed her powers. It’s a matter of course that she is not keen on revealing it again. 😭 Feels bad for Tarkan though.
