Episode 41: Succeeding the throne (5)

“Abububu, my bwaby! Oh my, you already have the face of a king. Who do you take after to be so handsome? Grandpa, right?”
Nephther spoke in babbles while carrying Actsion. His dignity and grace as a king had already been tossed aside.
Launelian, who was shaking five rattles at the same time with his telekinesis, frowned.
“What are you talking about? Look at that sharp and delicate nose bridge. Obviously, he takes after Rineh and I.”
“I admit that he takes after my daughter-in-law, but you, Prince Launelian? Not sure about that.”
“I just got some good medicine and I’ll send you some. Age must be catching up to your eyes.”
Launelian slammed back.
The court ladies watched this scene with happy smiles.
Actsion resembled Tarkan so much that they could be called identical, but he was not without traces of Aristine.
The strong, sharp features and wildness paired with Aristine’s delicacy created a very mysterious atmosphere around him.
‘Procreation must happen for the sake of humanity!’
‘You can’t possible leave this beauty behind, these good genes have to go somewhere!’
‘Any combination would be amazing. Handsome and pretty equals handsome and pretty. No failure at all.’
‘Imagine if the second is the splitting image of our Princess Consort, I mean, Her Majesty…’
Just imagining it filled them with delight and they burst out laughing.
Aristine, who was sprawled out on the sofa, laughed when she saw Nephther and Launelian bickering over the baby.
Everyone could see he was a mini-Tarkan but both of them were busy finding traces of Aristine in every inch Actsion and fussing over his resemblance to Aristine.
‘The only ones that says Sion resembles me more is father and elder brother.’
“It’s not good to fight like that in front of the baby.”
When Aristine spoke, both men turned to look at her at the same time.
“Boys can grow up with some of that.”
“His Majesty Nephther is right. He should know how to fight a little.”
“That aside, Rineh, is there anything you want to eat? Now you can eat whatever you want.”
“Or do you want to rest? Shall we move?”
At some point, they’d put their grandson/nephew down and were trying to take care of Aristine. Seeing that, Aristine shrugged.
For some reason, their bumping heads got worse after her delivery.
“I’m full. All I do is eat.”
Aristine shook her head and stretched out her hand, and Nephther carefully handed over his grandson.”
“Be careful. Sion is so big. I’m worried your thin arms can’t bear it.”
Aristine couldn’t understand why people kept saying the baby was big.
‘Sion is so small; I don’t know what they’re talking about.’
She scooped up Actsion, who was almost difficult to fit in her arms. Looks like the ‘fool-for-my-child’ gene was passed down somehow.
Actsion, who was frowning like he was unhappy, burst into laughter when he was in Aristine’s arms.
“Sion.”
When she called his name, his laughter grew even louder.
Actsion.
The name of her and Tarkan’s child.
Silvanus and Irugo.
A child succeeding two countries that had been at odds for so long that no one could ever imagine them becoming one.
That was why she gave him a name that meant succession.
‘Although Father and Brother Launelian wanted to give him their own names.’
Aristine smiled as she remembered how much of a fuss it had been to name the child.
“Don’t you like your mom too much? You’re making Dad sad.”
Tarkan said, poking her child’s soft cheek.
Actsion immediately frowned.
“Khan.”
Aristine called in a reproachful voice once Actsion looked like he was going to cry.
Tarkan immediately turned sulky.
He felt sad and peeved that his wife kept scolding him because of his son.
“I’ll give in for now. But don’t forget. Mom belongs to Dad, and Dad belongs to Mom.”
“Khan, seriously. What are you saying to a baby…”
Aristine said, giving Tarkan a look.
However, she didn’t seem to hate it as the corners of her mouth hooked up slightly.
“But it’s true.”
Tarkan spoke confidently and held her shoulder.
Their eyes met a breadth away and a strange current flowed. Just as their lips drew closer and closer…
“Uwaaaaa!”
A cry bore through their eardrums.
Actsion was crying and his face had turned bright red.
Startled, Aristine immediately carried her son, and Tarkan watched his wife walk away with a dazed look on his face.
‘How many times has this happened…’
Whenever there was a good mood going with his wife, this punk of a son would cry. Even though he loved his son and cared for him like the apple of his eyes, this…
‘This has to be on purpose.’
He couldn’t help but feel like that.
Nephther and Launelian, who had been fighting just a moment ago, saw Tarkan like this and high-fived like they were reveling in his misfortune.
It was a peaceful time.
Considering what was about to happen, these were surprisingly peaceful days.

Oh he definitely did that on purpose , he’s like ” How dare you touch my mom??!!” 😂
sion did that on purpose, definitely!
I’m not loving that foreshadowing at the end
It might actually be fun. I don’t think it could ever be really peaceful with an almighty baby running around. Once he’s old enough to talk it will probably be quite entertaining. I’m picturing something like the end of Fraudulent Marriage, except with one baby not three.
Thank you so much for these chapters, Miss Ruby!
Goodness, it seems like little Sion is determined to have his mom’s attention all to himself. He should be happy that his mom and dad have such a good relationship. After all, it was thanks to their good relationship that he was brought into this world. 🤭
thank you Ruby sama for translating these amazing novels, I love reading them
