Sidestory 20.2

‘I’m sure Khan feels the same way.’

Aristine thought and turned to her husband.

Sure enough, Tarkan was deep in thought.

His gaze was fixed on his son’s little figure running off.

“Hm, Mukali is definitely a good choice. As expected of my son.”

“Huh?”

“What?”

“Why are you talking about Mukali? I thought you were thinking about names?”

“No, I was just thinking that Mukali would be great for playing with Sion.”

Aristine was in agreement with that.

But was that something to think about with such a serious look on his face?

“He’ll be so tired after running around outside, won’t he?”

“I guess so.”

“He’ll be so tired that he’ll fall asleep and start snoring the moment he gets back.”

“…?”

“And if he’s that tired, even our prince will sleep in late tomorrow morning, right?”

“That’s possible. Although I find it hard to imagine.”

Aristine smiled, imagining her son sleeping in late.

Tarkan nodded meaningfully.

“I see. I’ll have to tell Mukali not to play too hard.”

Aristine tilted her head.

Why did it sound like he actually meant, “I better tell him to play as hard as possible?”?

* * *

The atmosphere around the court ladies serving Aristine was strange.

Hehehehe~!

They kept giggling to themselves out of nowhere.

Aristine tilted her head.

“What is it? Is something going on?”

“Oh, Your Majesty.”

“It’s almost been two months since the baby princess was born.”

“Indeed.”

Aristine sank into the warm water and fell into thought.

She planned to present the princess to the people on her 100th day.

‘I need to name her by then but…’

If it wasn’t Nephther or Launelian’s suggestions, then what could it be?

‘I’d like to name her myself, too but…’

She wasn’t sure.

She felt like every name was meant for her child.

Yet at the same time, every name felt it was not enough for her child.

The conflicting feelings kept fluctuating, like a seesaw.

‘I’ve never been good at naming things.’

It was already obvious when she had to name the ‘Stainless Steel’.

“Do you feel like you’re pretty recovered now?”

“I do. Honestly, thanks to Khan sharing his power, it wasn’t too difficult.”

Aristine’s flower always bloomed brightly for her.

“Heh heh! As expected of His Majesty Tarkan. He’s always prepared.”

“…?”

“Now, now. Let us give you a massage, Your Majesty.”

“Wait, there’s no need for scented oil—”

“I thought you love this scent, Your Majesty?”

Heh heh heh!

The giggles of the court ladies never stopped.

* * *

After finishing her bath and feeling refreshed, Aristine entered her bedroom.

‘Hm, it must be what I think it is.’

The happy court ladies.

And the mention of her recovery.

‘Food!’

One of the things that made the court ladies happiest was seeing Aristine eating well and enjoying her food.

Aristine swallowed.

Even without this, her appetite had already been returning rather strongly.

Instead of lying down, Aristine quietly took a seat at the table.

Thump, thump.

Her heart was pounding for the first time in a while.

She was excited.

* * *

Freshly washed up, Tarkan looked at himself in the mirror.

He lifted his arm and sniffed it, taking in the scent that he knew Aristine loved.

‘Hmm…’

But somehow, it didn’t feel like enough.

He glared at the mirror, then loosened the front of his shirt a little more.

It seemed a little better but after a few seconds, he felt like it wasn’t enough.

“Your Majesty Tar…kan?”

The attendant, who entered the room, was startled.

His Majesty the Emperor was suddenly working out in the middle of the night.

And specifically, his chest muscles.

After pumping up his muscles, Tarkan looked into the mirror and nodded with satisfaction.

“What is it?”

“Nothing, nothing at all.”

The attendant bowed, looking as if he had seen something he shouldn’t have.

“And Sion?”

“His Highness fell asleep as soon as he returned to the palace. The nanny had to wake him just to feed, bathe, and change him.”

“I see. When do you think he’ll wake up?”

“The nanny said he’s in such deep sleep that he doesn’t even notice when he’s carried, so she doesn’t think he’ll wake until the sun is in the sky.”

“Perfect.”

Tarkan nodded.

Then he hurried toward the bedroom.

Thump, thump.

His heart was pounding.

He was too excited to contain himself.

Was his wife feeling the same?

‘You never know, Rine is such an unpredictable woman…’

Even when he mentioned Mukali earlier, she didn’t seem to think anything of it.

‘Well, it’s cute, though.’

They say once you find her cute, it’s over for you so Tarkan was finished a long time ago.

Tarkan opened the bedroom door.

Aristine, whom he thought would be lying in bed, was sitting quietly by the table.

Tarkan was a little surprised.

Badump, badump…

His heart began to beat faster.

“…Were you waiting for me?”

“Of course.”

Aristine nodded quietly, her eyes shining with anticipation.

Her flushed cheeks.

Her slightly steeper breath.

There was no doubt.

Aristine was also excited.

Gulp.

Tarkan swallowed dryly.
