‘Thank goodness.’

Aristine watched Hamill and Nephther reunite with a smile on her face.

“Let’s get out of here. It’s been so long since they saw each other. I’m sure they have a lot to talk about.”

“That’s a good idea.”

Tarkan happily nodded.

He had been secretly worried that all four of them would have to sit together and catch up.

Hamill had already been annoying enough inside the carriage.

Tarkan subtly unbuttoned another row of his shirt and spoke.

“Shall we soak in the hot spring? We came here for that but we’ve hardly had the chance to enjoy it properly.”

“I know right? I suddenly saw Lu and things just…”

Aristine grumbled, then she smiled.

“Well, I’m glad I saw him. I knew we were going to meet again someday, but I didn’t know it would be like this.”

“…It would have been better if it didn’t happen during our solo vacation though.”

Tarkhan ground his teeth.

He started this trip to avoid all the people in the palace, only to end up meeting someone they rarely saw.

It felt as if the world couldn’t stand to see the two of them alone.

Nephther being here already made him speechless enough and now Hamill was here too.

Not only that, but they also spent their precious travel time trying to rescue Hamill.

Well, they didn’t actually rescue him, but still.

Thinking about it made Tarkan even more annoyed.

“But I liked it.”

“Of course, you did. I know you wanted to see Hamill.”

Aristine smiled at her husband’s grumpy words.

“Not that. The fact that I made more special memories with you.”

“…”

“When I go back and think about our trip, I’ll remember today.”

“…”

“The day we caught those fake barrier traders.”

She didn’t call it the day she met Hamill again.

“And the day my cute husband got jealous because I called someone else a pervert.”

“Seriously, you always….”

Tarkan began, then he swiftly picked Aristine up.

“Alright, I guess we’ll have to make another memory.”

Aristine leaned into her husband’s body and buried her face in his shoulder.

“Oh? What kind of memory?”

“I wonder.”

Tarkan strode forward with a roguish smile on his face.

At some point, the two had already reached the outdoor bathhouse.

“I think this looks like a good place to make memories.”

With a tug, Aristine’s robe fluttered and fell to the ground.

Aristine giggled.

Her delicate hand dug into Tarkan’s back. “It sounds like this memory will last a long time.”

Their lips locked.

And something hotter than the steam of the hot springs erupted between the couple.

* * *

For the first time in a long while, Tarkan felt very satisfied.

The thirst that seemed like it would never abate no matter how many times he tried, had finally been quenched.

Although, it was only a matter of time before the thirst returned.

Tarkan kissed his wife’s cheek as she sleep.

Aristine lay motionless on the bed.

She didn’t look like she would be getting up any time soon.

Tarkan got up from the bed, looking very refreshed.

He wanted to prepare things that his wife liked so that she could relax when she woke up.

And right after he left the bedroom with that in mind,

“I finally get to see my precious little brother.”

A voice came from behind and Tarkan turned his head to meet its owner.

Hamir was sitting on the terrace, basking in the sunlight.

“You retired early yesterday evening and only came out after midday… it’s basically dark already.”

“…Big Brother.”

That title made Hamill’s eyes open wide. Soon, a gentle smile appeared on his face.

“That is the first time you’ve called me that.”

Hamill got up from his chair and stepped closer to Tarkan.

“I guess that’s because I haven’t been much of an older brother.”

“…”

Tarkan didn’t say ‘Not at all’, even if it was just lip-service.

That aspect was so like Tarkan that it made Hamill chuckle slightly.

It wasn’t something he felt rueful or resentful about. After all, in reality, he had never been an ‘older brother.’

Tarkan had almost died several times at Hamill’s hands or at the hands of Hamill’s mother.

“Khan.”

This was also the first time that Hamill had called Tarkan in this manner.

“There is so much I wanted to tell you when I met you again. I wanted to apologize, tell you to take good care of your wife, tell you how I fared, ask you how you are.”

“…”

“But now that we’ve actually met, there’s only one thing I want to say.”

Hamill grabbed Tarkan’s shoulder. His grip was firm.

“I am proud of you.”

His turquoise eyes carefully met Tarkan’s golden orbs.

“What you have accomplished as an emperor, what you’ve done as a husband.”

“…”

“I am not envious, jealous, or judging any of it, I’m just–.”

Hamill smiled.

“Proud.”

It was a smile without a hint of gloom.

Tarkan stared at that face and blurted out.

“…I hate you, big brother.”

“…”

“Because of you, my wife almost died, and my unborn son almost never saw the light of day.”

“…Right, you’re right indeed.”

Hamill smiled painfully.

“But it’s also thanks to you that the two of them are safe.”

Tarkan’s gaze was firm as he looked at Hamill.

“So, thank you.”

“Khan.”

“And I respect your decision as well, big brother.”

Hamill’s eyes trembled.

Tarkan was not the type to easily respect anyone.

His half-brother had been extraordinary since birth, making Hamill feel like he was always chasing after him.

But now he was saying he respected him.

“…I see.”

The two brothers faced each other for the first time, without any animosities.

Despite having the same father, and growing up in the same palace, the two men were very different from each other.

From their appearance to their personalities, to their circumstances, strengths, and weaknesses.

But when they faced each other like this—.

‘…Perhaps we’re more similar than I thought.’

“What are you two brothers up to?”

A voice rang out and both men turned their heads.

“You’re up already? I thought you were going to sleep more.”

Tarkan quickly walked up to his wife.

“I wanted to sleep more, but it’s impossible. I feel like death, seriously.”

“You’re hungry, right? What do you want to eat first?”

“Water. My throat hurts.”

“Sorry. I was on my way to bring some.”

Hamir stood aside and watched this scene.

Whether it was Aristine who was being grumpy and Tarkan, who was indulging her grumpiness, both looked incredibly happy.

Slowly, a smile spread across his face too.

‘…I thought I told you to be the second happiest person.’[1]

《 Be happy. Be the number o—》

Happiest.

The word he wanted to say was swallowed, and he said something else.

《 …number two happiest person in the world.》

《 Because I will be the number one happiest person in the world.》

Aristine kept that promise.

She truly looked like the happiest person in the world.

But she was destined to be the second happiest person in the world.

Because the happiest person was himself, who could see and confirm that Aristine was truly happy.

The fact that he could see this face again made him the happiest person in the world.

“Lu.”

Aristine poked her head out from Tarkan’s embrace.

“I missed you.”

Her smile was dazzling.

Hamill smiled back.

“I really missed you too.”

Sure enough, he was truly the number one happiest person in the world.

Because you still look at me and smile like this.

Yaya

Like i said previously so many chapters ago. I really like Hamill and he gives me the worst case of 2nd male character syndrome I had read before.

Lama Omar

The reunion between Hamill and his father and brother is so wholesome.
A lot of things happened and all of them made mistakes, but it’s nice to see everything working out in the end 🤍
