Forget My Husband, I’ll Go Make Money – Side Story 2.2

“A message from Brother Launel?”

Aristine quickly walked up to the court lady.

When she saw Launelian’s seal on the letter, her face grew tense.

The court lady held over a letter knife and Aristine quickly used it to open up the letter.

Inside, was a bunch of paper which looked like over 10 pages.

“What does it say?”

Tarkan asked, walking closer to Aristine.

The letter was filled with a wide array of metaphors and tropes saying the same thing ‘I miss you’ and ‘I want to see you’. It was only when she got to the last page that Aristine found what he actually wanted to say.

“…It says he’ll be visiting the Imperial Palace soon?”

Tarkan’s face distorted.

Is that even worth conveying with such urgency?

‘Damn it, I’m sure he deliberately arranged for it to arrive at night.’

He sensed a malicious intent to disrupt his precious time alone with Aristine.

“Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve seen Elder brother.”

“…We’re already busy enough without him…”

“But still, it’d be nice to see his face! Ah, he’ll so be surprised when he sees Sion, right? Sion has grown so much.”

Seeing the endless smiles on Aristine’s face, Tarkan clenched his teeth.

‘…That means even less time for us to be alone.’

But he didn’t want to ruin his wife’s good mood.

“Ha, ha-ha, since I’ve delivered the message, so I shall take my leave now… Have a wonderful evening, Your Majesties.”

The perceptive court lady lowered her head and broke out in cold sweat.

Feeling the blame in Tarkan’s eyes, she couldn’t help but feel regret.

When the letter arrived, it was said to be urgent, so she thought it was a serious matter.

Had she known what it said, she would have waited until morning to deliver it.

“…I promise not to enter again, even if the sky splits in two and a volcano erupts.”

The court lady swore and left the bedroom.

Aristine watched the door close, looking dumbfounded.

“Wait, if the sky splits into two and a volcano erupts, you should be entering!”

“That’s just how much she doesn’t want to disturb us.”

“Disturb?”

“Right, disturb our time together.”

Tarkan’s golden eyes gazed intently at Aristine.

“Our alone time.”

His low voice, almost at a whisper, was bursting with sexual appeal.

Aristine’s eyelashes quivered as she felt his breath brush her ear.

Seeing her reaction, a smile appeared on Tarkan’s face. He softly planted a kiss at the corner of her eyes.

His soft, warm lips traced over Aristine’s elegant eyes, then it moved to her round forehead, her sharp nose, and her flushed cheeks.

“Khan…”

Aristine’s voice became a little breathy.

Her violet eyes gazed up at Tarkan and her eyes were filled with his face.

His expression was filled with a dangerously thick layer of desire.

Their eyes locked, triggering a raging fire.

Aristine grabbed Tarkan by the collar and suddenly pulled him towards her. Their lips met for a split second before parting slightly.

At that brief contact, Tarkan’s golden eyes gleamed darkly.

He pushed Aristine back, their lips overlapping once again, and at that moment…

“Impewial Mother!”

“Y-Your Highness, no!”

“You mustn’t disturb Their Majesties right now!”

They heard Actsion’s voice and the voices of the court ladies, desperately trying to stop him.

Just as Aristine and Tarkan paused, the door flew open.

“Impewial Mother! Impewial Father!”

Actsion burst into the bedroom, his face full of tears.

Startled by the sight, Aristine quickly moved towards her son.

“Sion, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”

“Huff, sniff, hng…”

Actsion tried to hold back his tears like a proper prince, but he failed. When his mom held him, he felt even sadder.

“Scawy…”

“Scary? What’s scary?”

“Sniff, Impewial father and…the t…tirer…”

Aristine, who was listening seriously, seemed to find this adorable and smiled.

“That was just a dream, ok? A dream.”

“Hng… but…”

Left in bed, all by himself, Tarkan clenched his fists.

As much as he loved his son, who was a carbon copy of Aristine…

As precious as he was that Tarkan wouldn’t hesitate to give his life for him…

‘…Did it have to be now?’

Couldn’t he have had the nightmare a little later?

Tarkan felt resentful towards his son.

Meanwhile, Aristine, oblivious to Tarkan’s feelings, was busy comforting Actsion.

“See? Mommy and Daddy are perfectly fine.”

“Hng…”

“We’re not eaten by a tiger.”

Actsion, who had been sulking in his mother’s arms, paused.

“But tiger nice.”

“Oh? But in your dream, Dad was…”

“He beat the tiger.”

“…?!”

“Daddy beat up the tirer. Poor tirer…Waaaah!”

“…”

“…”

Aristine and Tarkan watch their son cry, completely speechless.

So, the reason the nightmare scared him and had him crying so bitterly was because…

‘Tarkan wrecked the tiger?’

Of course, considering this was Tarkan, he could probably take down a tiger with his bare hands.

Although bemused, Aristine continued to comfort her son in her arms.

“Mommy will make sure Papa doesn’t bully the tiger, ok?”

“Hng, hk!”

“Ah, daddy was wrong! Bullying the tiger! Bad daddy!”

It was only when Aristine pretended to scold Tarkan that Actsion’s crying finally subsided.

Tarkan, who got a few smacks on the chest for no reason, felt wronged.
He wasn’t feeling wronged because he got hit. But because—.

‘Tonight is gone too.’

That’s what he found the most unfair.

In the end, the imperial couple slept with their son, who came searching for them because of a nightmare.

The next morning, Tarkan awoke and pressed his lips tightly when he saw Actsion snuggled up in his mother’s arms.

Seeing the two of them sleep so peacefully made his heart feel warm and full of happiness.

How. Ever.

‘When will I get to enjoy time alone with Rineh?’

Tarkan suddenly sprang to his feet and walked out of the bedroom.

The court ladies, who were waiting to assist the imperial family with their morning preparations, were startled and called out to him.

“Your Majesty?”

“Rineh and Sion are still sleeping. Do not wake them up.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“But Your Majesty, you seem to be in a bad mood.”

“…”

Tarkan sighed and turned to face them.

The court ladies exchanged knowing looks and grinned.

“It seems many disturbances in the palace are hindering the coming of the second imperial grandchild.”

“Too many disturbances, indeed.”

“Then, why not go somewhere without any disturbances?”

“But—”

“The timing is perfect considering His Grace, Grand Duke Launelian, is coming.”

Tarkan paused at the court lady’s words.

It was obvious that once Launelian arrived, he would cling to his little sister and refuse to let go.

But what if Aristine wasn’t there when he arrived at the Imperial Palace?

And not just that, what if they could dump this mountain of work on him too?

‘Looks like I can get my revenge for that unnecessary late-night letter.’

The court ladies snickered mischievously and whispered.

“We’ll handle everything! Everything, Your Majesty.”

“You trust us, right?”

“From the fluffy stuff to anything you need! We’ll handle it all!”
