In reply to <a href="https://rubymaybetranslations.com/lucia-chapter-80-part-1/#comment-54709">flayful</a>.

My best friend in high school was kinda like that too, though she's not from an influential or wealthy family. She's also a smart girl (academically) and kinda the teachers' pet. But she mostly be closed friends to boys only, while the girls usually didn't like her much. Some thought that she's an attention seeker to our teachers. I think it's also because she's too blunt on speaking (though, like in Katherine's case here, I somehow understood that she meant no harm at all).
I sat next to her after a switch (because the girl who's her former seatmate was a quite sensitive person & got offended by her 'unfiltered words'...lol), so my former seatmate (also a girl) asked me if I was willing to switch. I said okay, no probs.
We became close friends and seatmate for 2 years. But in our senior year, we got different classrooms. We met again in college, though we chose different majors.
In those 2 years we became seatmates, we never fought, never giving each other silent treatment, etc (I'm not a gentle & mature person like Lucia, at all. Not at that time or even now hahaaa). It's just when she said something I don't like, I said something back to her. She didn't get angry. If I unconciously said or did something bad, she would always straightly told me to my face that I was wrong. And I prefered it that way compared to people who talked about me behind my back.
Unfortunately, at some point, we lost contact.
I missed her.

Chapter 17 [part 2] :
“What kind of person His Grace the Duke is?”
“…He is an indifferent and cold person.”

And now :
“He is a…caring person.”

You can see that their relationship went a long way
