Lucia Chapter 103 [part 2]

PREVIOUS |INDEX| NEXT

< — The founding party — > (3)

After confirming that the Madam had completely left the break room, Roy spoke icily to David.

“You have not seen the Madam here today. Do you understand?”

David gnashed his teeth furiously. He was definitely going to make this bastard live a life worse than death. He wasn’t just rude. A mere vulgar commoner-born knight was insulting a Count heir to a Duke.

When David angrily tried to go past Roy in a huff, Roy blocked his path.

“What!”

“Answer before you go. My Madam was never here.”

David snorted.

“Didn’t you hear me? I came here after being invited by the Duchess.”

“This son of a—”

Roy growled. David flinched, then he was filled with indignation at the fact that he was overwhelmed by an ignorant knight’s attitude.

“And if I keep my mouth shut? Do you think you can hide the fact that the Duchess was here? What will you do about the knights guarding outside?”

“I just need to tell them to never speak of it.”

“How do you know that no one beside the knights and I know?”

Roy’s eyes took on a gleam. David wanted to upset Roy’s mood even more, so he kept mouthing off.

“Soon, people will come here. I am in the princess’ break room and the Duchess’ guard knight is together with me. Look forward to how I will explain this situation.”

“…Someone will come?”

“The Duchess’ guard knight left the Duchess and fought with the Count over a love affair. It’ll be very interesting.”

All expression died away from Roy’s face. Lifeless eyes, void of emotion like that of a wild beast, met with David’s eyes.

“…I see. This is a plot of yours.”

Roy smiled. It was an immaculate, bright smile.

David broke out in goosebumps. It was an instinctive sensation of life, responding to the threat of death. David tried to say something, but it was already too late.

Roy’s two hands grabbed David’s head and twisted it. Crack, along with the sound, David’s consciousness was cut off. Roy placed the unbreathing David on the floor and stood up. He looked around the break room with a subdued coldness in his eyes. It was completely different from his usual frivolous and careless appearance. Just like a beast that held its breath as it crouched just before taking the leap, there was a calm but ferocious energy around Roy.

Roy had now returned to being a hunter. He revived the sensation of his time in the north, when he had hunted down and killed barbarians.

‘The Madam definitely came here with her maid.’

Roy checked every corner of the break room. And he discovered the two unconscious women on the floor of the restroom. The first woman he saw was only in her underwear, and the other woman was his madam’s maid. The lips of both women were dark in color, displaying the typical symptoms of poisoning. Their chances of survival didn’t seem very high.

‘I can’t leave the maid behind.’

If he was alone, he could get out of here without leaving a trace, no matter what. But taking an unconscious woman along would make things difficult. However, leaving the maid behind with the corpse of the Duke’s successor, meant that the Madam would get caught up in the situation.

‘Moreover, there is an accomplice.’

David said that people were coming. That meant that there was a promise or an agreement for that to happen.

‘The person that brought this bastard here. They will definitely come back.’

Roy was reminded of the handmaid that had passed in front of him earlier and the unpleasant woman that kept grating on his nerves. The two different looking people had the same smell. There was some kind of relationship between the two.

‘Who are they aiming for? The Madam? Or the Lord?’

While escorting the Crown Prince for more than a year, Roy learnt a lot of things. He witnessed the battles of aristocrats, where they made rumors and spread them in order deal with their enemies.

At first, he thought ‘a man should pick up his sword and fight fair and square, what sort of crappy act is that’. But he came to the realization that sometimes, the effect of a rumor was much more fatal than that of a sword.

‘The Madam is a woman. A rumor is not good for a woman.’

Regardless of who they were aiming for, if they harmed the Madam, the result would lead to his lord being harmed as well.

‘The accomplice must be eliminated.’

Roy gave up on escaping. And he thought of cleaning up. He decided to get rid of all traces of the Madam ever being here. A true hunter should not leave any traces or any causes for future concern.

He had to start with getting rid of the witnesses. He broke the necks of the maid and the handmaid, killing them instantly. He felt a little sorry to the maid whom he was slightly acquainted with.

‘Sorry. I’ll beg for forgiveness in hell later.’[1]

He dragged in the knights who were strewn across the floor at the entrance. They were witnesses to the scene of the Madam entering the break room. As expected, he killed them too, and leaned them against the wall in an inconspicuous blind spot.

The whole process was over in the blink of an eye. Many lives were lost in an instant, but for Roy, it was a hunt. There was no fear or any feeling of guilt in him after murdering ordinary people.

Roy sat on the sofa, closed his eyes and waited patiently. His sensitive senses caught the sound of a group of people heading in his direction. The gradually approaching footsteps stopped in front of the door to the break room.

The moment the door was opened with a tiny click sound, Roy opened his eyes. The middle door opened. A dozen or so noblewomen piled into the break room, discovered Roy and stopped.

Roy’s eyes flashed. He saw the handmaid’s eyes quiver relentlessly as she stood, holding onto the door latch.

Anita thought something was strange from the moment she didn’t see the Duchess’ guard in the hallway, and when she saw that there were no knights in front of the break room, she felt something wasn’t right.

However, she couldn’t refuse the noblewomen who were following her and urging her to quickly open the door. If she ran away like that, it would be way too obvious. She thought that regardless of what had happened, after bringing the noblewomen inside, she would take the chance and naturally remove herself.

The noblewomen would never open a door with their own hand. Anita was annoyed even though she herself was such a noblewoman. As soon as she opened the middle door, Anita came face-to-face with Roy, who was staring straight at her. She couldn’t move an inch as if she had become a frog in front of a snake.

‘So it is you.’

Roy instinctually judged that this woman was at the center of all the things that had occurred. Following the temperament of a hunter, which relied more on the body’s senses than reasoning, he pulled out the hidden dagger that he always had on him, and immediately threw it at the woman’s neck.

Translator’s Corner:

[1] This is more like ‘I’ll beg for forgiveness when I go to hell later’.

E/N: Wow, didn’t expect such a bloodbath here heh, but gotta give it to Roy for his way of handling things. This dog approves of it, the dead cannot talk. XD

    1. They all saw Roy.

“A dozen or so noblewomen piled into the break room, discovered Roy and stopped.” (should I say they saw Roy instead? They’re the same thing imo.

Anita was holding the door cuz she’s a ‘handmaid’ so she was in front.

        1. She’s not wearing mask tho, she wear magic artifact that can change the appearance of the people who wear it 🙃 so the obvi is >> good bye earth and welcome hell 😈😉

    1. That is probably part of the reason he is called “Mad Dog” because of the brute force solutions. This will probably just cement for emphasis on the “mad” part of his name. Lol

  1. Sigh !! Roy is a loyal guy. Sadly this isn’t a xianxia. Such murder with eye witness mean death sentence for him. Look like the relationship between the king and the duke might become strained. All that because of one dellusional woman

    1. I don’t think so. First, I don’t think that Kwiz is stupid enough let the ties between royalty and Taran to all just go to waist just because of two idiots. Second, this can all be passed out as self defense. A knight simply protecting his lord’s wife. The murdered bodies can all be redirected to be the doing of anita and david, “plotting the abduction of the dutches, they murdered the two guard knights and killed one of the royal maids and hand maid in service to the duke of Taran, with sir Krotin using force to subjugate the perpetrators which led to their deaths”. Evidence can be taken from the fact that anita who is a countes wearing a maids uniform, david who is supposed to be at the ramis fief and was not given orders to return to the capital and the discrepancy between Elizabeth who was supposed to have been summoned by the king to the inner palace and Kwiz who was supposed to have ordered the summons. Added all together, it would only be that “the count of ramis and countes falcon tried to abduct and plotted the rape of the Dutches of Taran”. Their plan was good IF they had made sure that they’d have a contingency if ever something goes wrong. The problem is that they became too arrogant and confident that things will all go their way. Now, they’ll be nothing but criminals while Roy is the Hero who saved his mistress. Would the duke of ramis take offence in this? I don’t think so. He was already at the verge of replacing david with the younger brother. That’s the reason why david was sent to the fief, so that he has a chance to prove himself to be still worth the title of duke. He wasted it. Would the queen defend david and demand for the head of Roy? I don’t think so. Much like duke ramis, she’s also at the edge. I don’t think she would compromise her position as queen, the future of her paternal home, the lives of her children and her marriage just for one stupid brother whom she has constantly warned not to f**k with the black lion.

        1. i suddenly had that thought… imagine the magical device doesn’t work properly and Anita is stuck forever with an average maid’s face! hahha she’d led a terrible life till the moment of her death (which would happen soon at hugo’s hands in any case)

          thanks for the chapter ^^

  2. Oh dear that’s one way of making sure rumors won’t spread. Dead men won’t tattle lmao. Ahhhh, Hugh is gonna have a headache, actually, it’s probably Fabian who has to deal with this. Poor guy

  3. Please don’t let it end like this. Seriously, the crisis – climax range is too short…

You could drag this off for more chapters while giving readers sense of uncertainty. Unless the author actually does not like Anita her/himself. XD

  4. I have mixed feelings for this chapter.. I mean as i do like that the rumor wasnt given the chance to spread, i kinda feel bad if we lose roy for this massacre he’s really…handy xD and i did find david’s stupidity esp his crush on lucia every amusing and i kinda wanna see more jealousy from hugh stemming from a love rival lol… Thanks for the update!

    1. I have some mixed feelings too. I expected the author to drag things out a little bit more but when you think about it, this is very inline with Roy’s character. The guy is called Mad Dog for a reason.

That said, I thought Hugo would be the one to do it but I guess David and Anita were basically asking for it.

      1. Idk it kinda aligns with some of Hugh’s philosophy, let his talented employees handle the situation.

Hugh shouldn’t need to do every little thing especially when anita and David are barely on his radar.

  5. Good riddance David! But I wish we got to see more suffering from his part or a realization like “Oh shit, I’m not as invincible as I thought I was” or something like that. And Anita is probably gonna die in just two sentences two huh. Darn. Wish I could hear some feeling or thought she had before she dies.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😘

  6. Oh my oh my oh my…
That escalated quickly. The plot is out of my expectation, I thought he’ll just beat David instead of really killed him. And killed all the witnessess too. Mixed feeling indeed :’)
Now I ‘m really curious of how the plot goes.. will Lucia’s name get dragged to the scene, will Roy get reprimanded by Lucia, or how will the queen react.

  7. I love this novel sooo much! I am reading this from the beginning but this is my first comment. Thank you for your hard work! Please countinou ! I realy hope this evil woman is going to die and nobody will save her. Realy realy hope

  8. wow, even though he threw the knife at Anita’s neck, I hope that’s not the end of her? It just feels way too anti-climatic if it ended that way since I feel like the conflict with Anita was built up for many chapters already. It’s possible that after he threw the knife at the ‘maid’ Anita, it forced her to return back to her real body?

I guess i just want to see a confrontation between Anita and the Duke LOL.

  9. Didn’t expect the killings but yeah its rated mature for a reason tho. Not only for the smut, but also for the dark side of this story. Am i the only one who read this novel in a dark tone?

  10. It’s bad to say it, but I’m kind of happy they died. But I somehow wish they suffered more, begging for their lives, being in so much pain but they’re not dying, and regretting that they made such a decision in their lives. But well, Roy is more of an instinctual hunter, so he defeats and kills swiftly. In a way, they were let off a bit more easily than if Hugo were to catch hold of this and deal with them.

  11. Oh thank you lord author for not allowing a cliche to occur. The mess that would have been, i’d bury my head deep in my pillows full of frustration

  12. OMG OMG OMG I just have to comment, I was in suspense for two chapters and then Krotin saves the day just 👏 like 👏 that 👏 I am carving my name in your fan-list Roy Krotin.

You are amazing, thank you for translating ❤

  13. ijustwishyoucouldfeelwhatyousay

Wow my jaw just dropped 😧 i like the way roy handling this…yeaa just twist their head😝😝

  14. Me, after Roy starts killing everyone: *Surprised Pikachu face*
He is right, tho. It reminds me of that song in Pretty Little Liars “Cause two can keep a secret if one of them of dead” Now I’m worried for him. Will he be alright after all this? OAo No matter how things turned out, many innocent lives were taken and he has a bad reputation…

Thank you for translating this novel! <3

  15. I knew he was like a do first think never mind of person but when I read that Roy killed David I was like wait already. Lol love it

  16. just me who expected Roy kissing the count ramis? this way all the woman would see and he would say that they have a love affair but they hide because both are male
    lol
    my climax has funnier
but anyway, the story is mature for more reasons than the smut

  17. Woah Mad Dog Roy living up to his name… Now I’m wondering how they’d portray this in the manga… The manga can’t fully capture what’s going on in the characters’ head…

    Thanks Miss Ruby!

  18. 🧙🏽‍♀️🔮. I did warn them of their deaths. Hmmm. The red I saw… was not red of blood… it was the red of the knights hair. 🙃

  19. This is why I love this novel. Any other story would have had the rumor gone through and destroyed Hugh’s and Lucias relationship for a bit, but they didn’t here and I really appreciate that. Also can’t forget how badass Roy was handling this situation.

  20. I’ve been reading this novel for a while but never commented since probably not many people, and also the translator would keep reading these, but I just couldn’t let this chapter go without saying anything…
    “Wow, Roy Krotin, wow…”

Lmao, I never expected to the situation to turn out like this!

  21. Feeling like I should see shocked and horrified due to Roy’s brute dealing with the situation (killing the little fool who saw no problem with ruining the duchess, and pretended in his heart he wasn’t doing anything wrong, just showing his love).
But to my surprise, I’m more shocked admirative (lol, I realize I’m quite merciless 😅)

  22. I read the entire part with my mouth open (literally), I’m shocked, very surprised. I knew Roy was relentless, but WOW, he killed people like he was killing flies.

And I swore David would die at Hugh’s hands, it’s still hard to believe he died that fast.

Despite all this, I hope that Roy is not arrested or sentenced to death.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  23. I was in awe for a moment. Didn’t think they’d actually die this way but Roy was simply acting in character here I guess. This is how he does things but I can’t say I’m certainly satisfied after both of their deaths since this has to come with grave consequences for Roy surely even if he has the Duke’s back.

  24. anna carolina de alencar santos

About the reference on Translator Corner [ 나무통은 ], looks similar to a wooden container/capsule commonly used for sending messages with bird’s ( pigeons, Falcons and other species). They look like a Barrel, but in a smaller size.

(Bear with my English, I’m not a native, so my writing capacity is a bit lower than my reading)

    1. anna carolina de alencar santos

I’m really concerned about how could I write the comment on the wrong chapter! 😂😂😂

  25. I feel so bad for the innocent who lost their lives in this ordeal. Simple guards and maids that probably had family at home waiting for them. I guess the same is going to happen to the noble women. Roy really doesn’t cut corners I gotta give him that
