Episode 9: Not An Ordinary Wedding (1)

T/N: Please read on ruby maybe lol

But right then, Mukali’s face brightened, and he asked.

“Why? Did the Princess seem different than you expected after you talked to her?”

His reaction was not what Dionna expected. He seemed happy and even relieved for some reason.

Dionna faltered for a bit then she shook her head.

“No, that’s not it.”

Her eyes scanned Mukali’s face like she was searching for something.

“It’s just, seeing Brother Durante protecting the Princess like that…I can see everyone likes the Princess so maybe I’m just creating unnecessary trouble.”

Hearing the word ‘Princess’, Mukali’s eyes trembled a little.

When she saw his disgusting left eye twitch, Dionna controlled her expression as much as possible to avoid offending him.

“Brother Mukali, you’ve met the Princess too. What do you think? The princess is a good person, right?”

For a moment, Mukali was at a loss for words.

Naturally, he should say no. There’s no way the Princess of Silvanus could be a good person.

《 Isn’t it stranger to like a Silvanian when you don’t even know what schemes they are cooking up inside?》
《 Don’t lose your mind just because she’s a little pretty.》
《 What about her is much better?! Don’t submit so easily. 》

The words he said to his fellow warriors choked him like a whip.

‘I, I haven’t fallen…!’

He was not the kind of person that was swept away by small and delicate things because they stimulated his protective instincts.

“I don’t trust the Princess. I can’t possibly believe a woman who has eyes on another man before her marriage.”

“Brother Mukali…”

“I have a plan to catch her red-handed. It is a fearsome plan; not even a cunning Silvanian can escape.”

Mukali looked as if he was determined to reveal to the world exactly what kind of person the Princess was, and seeing that, Dionna smiled.

‘He’s so simple that he’s easy to handle.’

Dionna knew that the princess wasn’t really having an affair, but that didn’t matter.

If Mukali went digging around, rumors would definitely spread.

‘Today is the only day you will be able to hold your head high in front of me, Princess.’

Her sea-blue eyes gleamed insidiously.

* * *

Tarkan stood in front of the hall, waiting for Aristine.

No matter where he looked, the atmosphere was filled to the brim with the high of a wedding celebration.

He had known he was getting married for a long time, but now that he was really getting married, he felt uneasy.

But regardless of how he felt, the marriage had to be done. Aristine was even a pretty decent marriage partner.

‘If it weren’t for her, I mean.’ [1]

Perhaps Tarkan was satisfied with Aristine. To him, she was an unusual woman that he couldn’t figure out but that was not a bad thing. Sometimes, she even felt pleasant.

She was the only woman, no, the only person who could draw out such feelings in Tarkan.

However, he still couldn’t forget the girl he saw 10 years ago. A young girl who suddenly appeared in the demonic beast plains. She looked much younger than him.

He still couldn’t figure out why that little girl was there alone in the demonic beast plains. But if it weren’t for her, Tarkan would have died that day.

“…”

His keen hearing picked up the sound of small footsteps.

His golden eyes, which had been withdrawn, turned towards the path leading to the bride’s waiting room.

The afternoon sunlight flooded in through the huge windows. The crystals that were hung everywhere scattered the sun rays, covering the floor in a brilliant array of colors.

In the middle of that dazzling path, Aristine was slowly walking towards him.

Tarkan’s pupils shook slightly as his eyes widened a little.

She was already a beautiful person but her appearance today mesmerized people with just a single glance.

But that was not why Tarkan was agitated.

For some reason, the appearance of the young girl he saw in the demonic beast plain overlapped with Aristine.*

His eyes met Aristine’s in the distance.

Her purple eyes curved softly. Her eyes shone brighter than radiant colors reflected onto her dress by the jewels in the hallway.

With one step at a time and no hesitation at all, Aristine walked up to him.

Her small and delicate face looked more vibrant than any flower.

They were not alike at all.
Not even in the slightest.

“Tarkan.”

Aristine’s voice sounded like it was from a dream.

Her soft hand placed itself on his firm arm. For some reason, his muscles tensed, and his arm stiffened.

The bride and groom stood side by side, looking at each other for a moment.

Both of them were expressionless. No excitement, anticipation, or nervousness could be seen on their face.

But strangely enough, the court servants at their back could not take their eyes off them. Their faces flushed red as they forgot what they were doing and stared at the couple who stood there like a painting.

“Please take care of me in the future, partner.”

Aristine whispered to him.

Tarkan looked away from her face.

“Let’s go.”

Just as his voice fell, the doors to the ceremonial hall opened.

Translator’s Corner:

[1]  He doesn’t seem to be referring to Aristine in this sentence.

*Oh my, is that a familiar plot I sense???

  1. Bruh, I face palmed so hard towards Mukali’s thought process. I can understand that you can’t trust her just yet, but give a room for open-mindedness. Otherwise you’ll only look stupid and immature brat lead by a jar of candies. Anyways, could this be another cliche plot? A mysterious little girl, his benefactor, turns out to be his wife? Eeeh…not that I’m complaining but…sure I guess? We still have a long way to go before her business plan will start tho (๑-﹏-๑)

  2. Oof, she saved his life when they were children but neither of them realize. I should have seen this coming lol.

He’s already falling in looooooooove with her!!!

      1. Wasn’t it mentioned that she has been shunned and confined for 10 years? As this event was also 10 years ago, I’m pretty sure that’s connected. We don’t really know yet what led to her confinement so~

      2. No, she mentioned that her father would put her at near-death situations just to stimulate her and awaken her powers. Maybe that event happened before she was confined, because confinement was an act of the emperor givung herup and branding her as something “useless”

    1. I think it was mentioned already that she was confined for 10 years. I don’t even mind much, that they are connected by whatever incident that was (wasn’t him killing some great demon also then? What led to him being favored? Or am I mixing that up now?) So this kinda seemed pretty planned by the author…

But right now the intermission “he couldn’t forget that girl from 10 years ago” in this very scene… that felt forced, yeah…

  3. I think it would be like- remember when it said that Aristine’s father would endanger Aristine so that she can unlock the ‘Royal sight’? He even lit up her room on fire when she was a child for that. Perhaps out of desperation because only she had inherited their silver hair, he left her in the demonic beast plains too so that she as a child, would be frightened of the large beasts that even grown men would be afraid of. There she saw a boy little older than her going to be crushed by the raged beast aproching him. As she thought that maybe he is also suffering like her, in the moment..pushed him aside. The half- conscious Tarkan could have barely seen her as they got father away from each other in the hectic fight against the demons. Aristine remembers saving someone back then but doesn’t know that it was Tarkan.

    (Just a speculation.)

    1. sound logical. We are talking abt the nasty emperor who would burn his daughter so he would gain that special eyes. So making her has an accident in the middle of jungle full of demonic beasts would probably just what he ordered.

  4. What a dumb woman Dionna is, as if Aristine was the one who wants the wedding to happen. It is an arranged marriage formed by the rulers of both country, Tarkan and Aristine had no choice but to do this because it’s for the peace of both country, this b doesn’t know how to use her brain properly. A coward and a fool.

  5. Ah yes…Tarkan us turning out to be the typical male lead lol. I can’t wait to see Aristine destroy everyone who gets in her way.

  6. I believe Mukali, he would never be swept away by something that appeared small and delicate. He would be swept away by being treated like a person instead of as a set of traits. I’ve yet to meet anyone who remained distant when that happened.

And while he does like Dionna it’s clear that he only does so because of her brother’s sacrifice. If he ever finds out how she really thinks of him he would feel hurt, betrayed, and then drop her like a bad habit. The issue with ‘like’ is that as opposed to ‘love’ it’s always conditional.

  7. I find Mukali super hypocritical in the way when he says he could never be deceived by delicate, tiny things (including individuals). But he proceeds to do just that with Dionna. Although Dionna differs in height to Aristine, Mukali is still super large compared to Dionna (aka Dionna’s tiny in his eyes). Dionna often tries to use her brother’s death to her advantage in some of the most manipulative ways possible. She acts pitiful, like a baby deer with a broken leg. She presents herself as some unfortunate soul at the mercy of an evil princess. Of course Mukali’s going to be shortsighted and see only what she feeds him. And so, he treats her as if she’s fragile and super delicate… (Evident in the way he stormed into that room as Durante and Dionna were conversing right when she begins to cry. Without even knowing the reason why Durante was displeased, he immediately blames Durante.) Man, it’s infuriating to watch her superiority complex play out while it affects Mukali too.

  8. Is obvi that the girl was Ari, a filthy little Ari that was prolly sent by her sht of a dad to do something shtty, probably why he hated her enough to imprison her for 10 years… That sht. I bet Jacq knows too

  9. It’s such a Korean romance trope for them to have met as kids, but have no idea it was them as adults. Is it an obsession with fate or something? lmao, why do Korean stories love to do that??

  10. the plot just like when leah save ishakan when they were young in predatory marriage, also barbarian also silver hair beutiful princess wakakakakak is it a template that used barbarian wakakkaak
