* * *

Yuri moved around a few locations, seemingly checking for something. She used the empty ruin’s land that Lakis led her to yesterday as the base and measured a certain distance from it then checked those places.

There were some places noted down in the ancient words recorded in the document, so she decided to check a few places after seeing that.

And as a result, Yuri successfully discovered another ruin.

“Just one step further from there and we’ll be in the South.”

Lakis, who was quietly following Yuri, said after looking ahead of her.

Yuri seemed to not hear Lakis as she crossed an unseen boundary and stood before a steep cliff.

Beneath the cliff lay a pitch-black swamp.

The place Yuri stood was where the borders of the East, West, and South overlapped, and it was narrowly part of the South’s territory.

So although Lakis was telling the truth, he wasn’t really worried about the South’s reaction, so like before, he just let Yuri do what she wanted.

“Mr. Lakis, look over there.”

Lakis’ gaze followed Yuri’s finger to where she was pointing at. But from where Lakis stood, he couldn’t see what Yuri was trying to show him.

Lakis drew closer till he was behind her. And in doing so, he also stepped out of the West’s land. After taking a few steps, he reached the cliff’s edge where Yuri stood.

He had been here before, but he had never crossed the border because there was only a swamp ahead.

“…!”

But the moment he stood at the edge of the cliff like Yuri did, a familiar sensation ran down Lakis’ neck. It was undoubtedly the same energy as the fragments from the ruins.

The place Yuri was pointing to, was at the bottom of the cliff where they stood.

“Pillars? Don’t tell me that’s…”

Lakis’ brows furrowed.

The thing below the land they were standing on was not a simple rock wall. On a closer look, it seemed to be a cave-like entrance supported by pillars. And the inside of the cave seemed to lead west.

“Let’s go take a look.”

Yuri jumped down before Lakis could even say anything.

The black swamp at the bottom seemed dangerous at first glance but it was easy for them to climb down the rock wall.

Lakis also came down while checking their surroundings. Then he found a small path in the middle of the rock wall that looked man-made. It wasn’t obvious because it retained its natural structure but there were definitely traces of people using it.

Lakis’ eyes narrowed.

* * *

Yuri stepped inside a ruin for the first time. The inside was dark. But there was a device on the wall and when she touched it, a dim light came on.

A few places were damaged but the thing giving off a faint light from the ceiling was obviously an alchemy device.

The view inside the ruin was a little different from the description Lakis gave her and the description in the document. This place was actually similar to the research lab she was originally in.

But the ambiances weren’t exactly the same and when she checked around, she realized that no experiments seemed to have been done here directly.

“Wait.”

Lakis grabbed Yuri’s arms just as they arrived at one of the many paths that appeared a while later.

Yuri followed Lakis and stopped walking too. She could feel an intense and ominous energy permeating the area.

She could also see big and small crystals with a black luster filling up the walls and ceiling. Below were several gems similar to the ones she saw at the Alchemist Tower.

“The ruin’s fragments, huh.”

At Yuri’s words, Lakis’ forehead creased.

“It might be dangerous, don’t touch it for now.”

Yuri agreed with Lakis on that.

“Let’s go to another room. I don’t really want to go in here.”

The two turned away from the area that was creepily filled with ruin fragments and went into a different path.

“The documents must be kept in here.”

The inside of the room smelled like old papers.

Yuri picked up a document from the shelf. It was a journal similar to the one she saw at the Carnot Castle.

While Yuri was looking at it, Lakis glanced back at the door.

“…I’ll go look around the other places for a bit, stay here.”

When Yuri nodded in agreement, Lakis walked out the door.

Yuri flipped through the contents of the journal. It looked like the person in charge of this place in the past had recorded the happening at the time, like it was a diary. There were a few things that stood out in the document.

[Precaution: Do not forget to wear the assigned equipment when collecting the fragments. It is also important to check the condition of the equipment carefully. One of the workers deployed in Area 9 yesterday touched the fragment with their bare skin due to torn equipment and melted immediately with no trace of them left.]

[Any living thing touched by a fragment will lose its original properties, whether they be human, animal, insect, or plant. Over time, the melted mass turned into a solid gem. Sometimes the moths and fireflies flying in the ruin hit a fragment and are turned into gemstones.]

[The gemstones can be used as a new resource. This is an amazing discovery that will be recorded in history.]

[When a gemstone is implanted in a human body, there were some cases where their ability improved, and in some rare cases, they obtained mysterious powers.

In addition, the gemstone can completely transform an item’s utility, so I believe it is comparable to ancient alchemy.]

[Outside, the gemstones obtained from the transformation of living organisms are called the ruin’s fragments but strictly speaking, these two are very separate things and…]

Tak.

Yuri finally finished reading the document and closed it. The floor was littered with papers that Yuri read and discarded.

There was a slight frown on her face.

If the things written here were true, then the ‘ruin’s fragment’ that Yuri knew about might not be the true ruin’s fragment.

So living beings are turned into gemstones when they touch the ruin’s fragment? And when you implant that transformed gemstone into a person, they gain a mysterious ability? Then this meant that the thing absorbed by all mutants, Yuri included, was not the true ruin’s fragment but a gemstone whose biological form was altered by a ruin’s fragment?

Frankly, some parts were difficult to understand with these old documents alone but when her thoughts reached that point, she felt uncomfortable.

Maybe this was something she didn’t know.

Some of the gems absorbed into Yuri’s body may have consisted of humans as well as animals and plants. Maybe that was why her appearance changed after absorbing a gem.

For some reason, the name Selena Crawford suddenly flashed through Yuri’s mind at that moment.

There was clear evidence that Dominic Crawford was, in both great and small ways, connected to the ruin’s fragments. So if Selena Crawford was not unrelated as well…

She was supposedly attacked and killed by heretics but who knew what actually happened.

It might not be a coincidence that Yuri and Selena Crawford were so similar in appearance when they were not related by blood in any way.

Yuri recalled how she looked before she was sold to the research lab. Her appearance had definitely changed a lot.

‘It might be worth looking into this.’

Yuri thought she should pay a visit to the East once she had a chance.

“Ms. Yuri, I don’t think there’s anything else to see, let’s go.”

Lakis returned just then and held out his hand to Yuri.

Yuri threw the document in her hand to the floor and took Lakis’ hand.

“Is there anything you want to take with you?”

“Not really.”

All the information she got was stored in her head, so she didn’t need to take it with her.

“You’re going to destroy this place, aren’t you?”

Yuri felt like she knew what Lakis was thinking so she asked casually and at that question, a faint smile appeared on Lakis’ face.

The two of them walked out of the ruins and climbed back up.

At that moment, Yuri wasn’t sure if it was an imagination, but she felt like she could slightly sense someone’s presence below. But as soon as she turned to look, a thunderous roar rang in her ears.

Boom!

The ruins exploded amazingly, probably thanks to Lakis setting up certain things while he was away.

The traces of old civilization crumbled along with the rock wall and slowly sank into the swap.

Lakis looked relieved at this sight.

And meanwhile:

A certain set of people almost sank into the swamp with the ruins.

“Oh my god, that was close.”

“What the hell! It was fine just now, why did it collapse?”

Genos and Damon were able to protect themselves from the falling rocks thanks to the alchemized protection shields they brought.

“Dammit, I crawled all this way, doing all this hard work for nothing!”

“Maybe it’s designed to explode when outsiders come in?”

The both of them felt suspicious.

They came here at Kalian’s request after Kalian got some clues about the experiments Dominic was doing.

But before they could even find anything useful, the cave suddenly collapsed. So eventually, the two of them had to return to the East without anything to show for it.

However, there were some papers that flew out after the explosion so they decided to recover those as soon as they could reach them.

Yuri didn’t notice them because the intense energy remaining in the ruins was blocking some of her senses. But Lakis, who had already gotten used to it in the past, sensed them and confirmed that it was those two annoying brats from the East that were in the ruins.

So he decided to use this chance and bury them together with the ruins inside the swamp. Sure enough, he deserved to be called the vicious king of villains.

‘They should be dead with this.’

Normally, he would have verified himself, but Yuri was next to him right now. Well, even if they got lucky and survived, he could just deal with them later.

Lakis smiled, feeling very refreshed, and pulled Yuri’s hand.

“Let’s go, Ms. Yuri.”

Yuri stared at the ruins which were buried in the black swamp from afar then she turned around.

There were other things she had to do after this but for now, it was time to go home.

You’ve Got the Wrong House, Villain.
《Fin》

T/N: Alright, this marks the end of the main story. I’m kinda surprised it ends this way but OK. There are 5 side stories left and I finally understand what Dominic was talking about in Ch 166 so that’s good.

E/N: I need more fluff! It better be the fluff I have been expecting after so long!

  1. I seem to see my life going backwards…
why would it end just like that!? What about their relationship? Yuri and Lakis aren’t yet an official couple!? What about the hearty confession and Limonade content?
what about the truth of the voice inside Lakis? who is it and how did it appear!? Is it really connected with Yuri or the emotions of Yuri which disappeared along with her appearance change and power’s arrival? Or a part of Yuri’s soul? Why it went inside Lakis? was it fate or simply convenience since Lakis was near, stronger or compatible with it? Maybe it has an motive even tho it does not remember? Why haven’t we heard of it ever since a good amount of chapter’s back?
what about Selena? Is she now Yuri’s reincarnation? turned into a ruin fragment which was put inside yuri changing her appearance?
And the truth of the ruin fragments/ philosopher stone!?
What will happen to Anne-Marie and her family meeting? her Romance and ex-novel plot?
    the other characters?

    Idk…

Anyway, I big thank you to Ms Ruby for her work till now.
Although the ending was a bit surprising, It was an awesome story nonetheless.

    1. From what I was able to get she probably was turned into a gem stone that Yuri absorbed, but I really hoped they’d give an answer to why Lakis and Yuri get a weird feeling when they touch.
About the voice inside lakis` head, could it be a dead human who retained it’s ago after death? I we take selena turning into a gem stone as what actually happened, Yuri’s appearance changed to one similar to hers, is she inherited her physical traits, so maybe Lakis didn’t inherit physical traits but a person’s ego, which is the voice he heard.
But like, they just through a bunch of unconfirmed possibilities, but I’m going to take all of them as what actually happened.

      1. And she got spider powers because she…absorbed the power of a…radioactive spider. And he is carrying around some sort of strange symbiote.

Is this all just Spider Man/Venom slashfic???

      2. I think the reason why lakis and yuri feel weird when they touch could be, as you said, related to selena and maybe the voice was actually a human who was like selena’s lover or something. Maybe Dominic didn’t like there relationship and he somehow made them turn into gemstones. Now these gemstones were used on yuri and lakis. As it was said that yuri looking like selena might have something to do with selena being the gemstone in yuri. So maybe selena’s feelings didn’t die and so didn’t ger lover’s. This could be totally wrong but who knows. 🤔

        1. Interesting, I just assumed they split Serena’s stone and the bug voice is from a different gem that just merged with Serena’s emotions while Yuri got the physical form. I’m more curious why she’s immune to brainwashing and mind reading. I guess she just got it somehow from one of the many gemstone she got injected with as the first successful subject.

          1. I’m also very curious, it just feels like a very important point, so dismissing it like that is kind of disappointing.

    2. I’m pretty sure that Yuri is Selina originally without the gemstone, because it was said that Yuri had burn scars on her body before she was tested on and moreover it was also said that Selina was kidnapped during a fire. Moreover Genos should have known that Selina died because of his ability but he didn’t see anything about Selina dying and this was also the reason why he was banned (it was said in novel he was banned because he didn’t see anything about Selina dying). Yuri isn’t her past self in Korea she just has the memories and maybe she was Selina before but lost her memories. Also when Tatiana first appeared Yuri said she looked familiar. This is my guess but Yuri should be Selina originally but she just lost her memories. And may be Yuri can touch Lakis like that is related to her past life. This is just my hypothesis.

I AM SO SAD ABOUT THIS NOVEL ENDING 😭😭😭

  2. Thank you for everything Miss Ruby!!! And editor😭😭😭I can’t believe it’s over and tbh these last few chapters and the mystery of the fragments have been way more interesting than what was going on with the labs and Dominic I’m sad we didn’t get to see more of this. Also hope we get Lakis and Yuri fluff

  3. I feel like this story needs at least another 20 chapters to help tie loose ends, if not more. At least we have five side stories, hopefully we can see some kind of conclusion with that. That “ending“ left me with more questions than answers and a feeling of incompletion. Perhaps there will be a sequel story in the future?

In anyway, thank you so much Miss Ruby for taking us down this amazing journey. We appreciate your time, enthusiasm, and effort.

    1. exactly my thoughts! i was initially wanting the side stories to be some nice fluff but after the reveals of the epilogue i also want answers

  4. Wow the plot twist….Selena could’ve been turned into a gem, implanted into Yuri, and thereby changing Yuri’s appearance – sick and twisted and interesting all at the same time.

Still hoping for more Lakis x Yuri romance lol the story can’t end like this! Hopefully the side stories fulfill some of that need.

Thanks for the translations as always!

    1. hey, is it more sick Selena turning into a soul or the philosopher stone or ruin’s fragments are made through children?
I am not sure what’s surprising in this, the brutal reality and heavy content of the truth or the fact that Selena might be transformed into a stone when she was an adult.
      Haha… the Sarcasm
      sorry.

  5. thank you so much for translating this story!!
i cant believe it just ended like that TT so many unanswered questions

  6. Thank you for the translation!
But hold on, there are so many ships left to sail!
What about Anne Marie x Odin? Siren x Genos? Even Hestia and Leo!! (Don’t judge me here okay? They will make a great couple once they both grow up) /(T^T)/
A little Yuri x Lakis fluff can’t do any harm either…
    Right?
Haha, Karlian and Damon are forever lone dogs
But now I fear for Genose’s and Damon’s safety, it feels like whenever Lakis is around they always have to watch their necks (QwQ)/. Haha, poor poor them. They’ll probably be fine tho
    Oh! Oh!
Is Yuri getting her big reveal??
Is she gonna save Damon’s and Genose’s butts from Lakis while showing the fact that she is actually a mutant in the process???
    I can’t right now-
    I’m squealing
But admit it, this book using something among these lines would be super badass ^^
    Oh well, never mind me
    Just crying in the corner
This book truly was an interesting one.
Let’s all see each other in the extras
    Buh-Bye my friends!!

    1. This definitely needs more chapters or a second book to be complete.
I absolutely agree with you. THE SHIPS NEED TO SAIL!
      The book needs more chapters!!
      I’m crying!
      I’m sad!
I’m in the corner of my room filling it with mushrooms of dramatic gloom!!
      I’m heartbroken!
And I admit I LOVE THIS BOOK, but I cannot be certain within myself that the extras will continue the story! I would love more fluff and romance moments and I definitely WELCOME THEM! C’MON! but I also love the mystery! I wanna an answer to my endless questions!
So, I will wait! I will brace myself till then, Love the story as always and face reality with courage and excitement!

See you too in the extras, mah friend!

btw, Genos already knows she is a mutant due to his prophecy power. I mean, Genos himself is a mutant, but instead of being created like Yuri and Lakis, he is like Anne-Marie, they developed their powers naturally (?). Anne-Marie, we know it was because of the environment she lived in prior to coming to be the neighbour of Yuri, but we don’t know anything about Genos apart from his power, being the ex-knight of Selena and abandoning his knighthood and prestige! What is this!? We need development! Genos has a potential ship with Siren which I am … was super excited about!

  7. What a…idk…weird place to end it. Like its not completely abrupt but…nah its abrupt. Like feels cut off. Im not that satisfied ither.
Man this is one of my favorite novels, I really do adore it, and the characters qwq
Thank you for your translations and hard work.

  8. What is really wrong with this ending? The story is very good but there are a lot of loopholes at the end!!
    .
Thank you Miss Ruby for the translation, you did a good job.

  9. I’ll miss this story. There was a lot of things that could have been fleshed out more but I’m somewhat satisfied. Although, I do regret there wasn’t too many Lakis and Yuri moments. Thank you for translating as always! 😀

  10. So in the end the auction was right? It really was a philosopher’s stone made from humans(like FMA) and the true ruin’s fragment is different. And maybe a relative of Genos or someone with a similar precog power was turned into a stone and fed into Yuri so she saw the “novel” but it actually was just a one time vision. Her past life must be someone turned into a stone too. What I find weird was that she was injected once but came out looking like Serena, remembering her past life, seeing the future as a novel, and even having spider powers right? The other doses later on just strengthened her without anything new. Did they already mix various stones into a single dose?

  11. It’s annoying that we can only see five side stories,It’s 18 side stories but it’s not available online!, Or maybe it’s available on ridibooks In folders?, I didn’t check ridibooks, but kakaopage There’s only five side stories in it, I hate that..

  12. As i read the chapter they were like the developers of Resident evil. Capcom doesnt explain much plus giving more and new puzzles hahaha

  13. M Ruby sorry i have forgotten most of the story but you said you finally understood what Dominic was talking about in Ch 166?? What exactly are u talking about here??🤔🤔

  14. sorry but i thought an epilogue was meant to basically tie up any loose ends and hint at a “happily ever afterwards”, not have the biggest plot reveal of the entire novel and not actually explain any of it….

  15. That was one amazing fantabulous story loved it too much thank you Ruby for ur hardwork u r a rock star
Author should have explained a little bit still this was good one
